Cycling promise Bjarne Vanacker has been found dead in his house. The rider was part of the EFC-L&R-Vuylsteke formation, Trek-Segafredo's development team.

The cause of the death of the 20 year old rider is still unknown but his team claims that there have never been problems with medical tests.

"Vanacker has been on our team for two years, a promising rider. Bjarne's death is very hard for us and we are discussing what can be done to support his teammates after this heavy loss," said team manager Michel Pollentier to Belgian broadcaster Focus & WTV.

"He didn't have heart problems or of any kind. He was a very healthy young man. His death is a very hard hit for his family and his teammates."

Last year, Vanacker won his first race at the West-Vlaamse Pittem and in 2017 he surprised during the U23 Il Lombardia where he achieved the 15th place competing against pure climbers, and the Tour de Piemonte, where he was fourth.
