Wout Van Aert hopes for a Wildcard for Paris-Roubaix

Twice Cyclocross World Champion Wout Van Aert would ride the upcoming edition of Paris-Roubaix if his team gets a Wildcard.

The Belgian is one of the greatest cyclocross riders of his generation and is already taking the steps to become a road rider full time. He trusts that his team Veranda's Willems-Crelan will get an invitation to the 2018 Paris-Roubaix by the ASO.

The rider wants to put his abilities to work in the spring classics. "One of our main goals is to get a wildcard for Paris-Roubaix next season," said Sports Director Nick Nuyens.

"But that wildcard is not going to arrive overnight. The downside is that we are a ProContinental team, but we are busy with other competitions and maintaining the hope."

The Belgian team will be competing for a WildCard with other squads like Cofidis, Fortuneo-Oscaro, Vital-Concept, Cofidis, Wanty-Groupe Gobert and Roompot-Nederlandse Loterij.
