Fortuneo-Oscaro signs Michael Carbel

Danish rider Michael Carbel is set to move to Fortuneo-Oscaro for the 2018 season. The rider takes a step up to the professional level from team Virtu Cycling.

The Dane has two national championship titles in the Junior and Espoirs categories. In 2017, he finished third at the U23 World Championships.

"I'm very happy to be a part of the professional world of cycling and this team, and I arrive in the team with new goals," the rider said. "To arrive in a foreign formation can be confusing but I have no doubts that I will integrate well.

"I know Dan McLay well, we talked a lot and I understood that this was a great opportunity with a great team. I can't wait to start the season with my teammates."

The signing of Carbel wraps up the team for the 2018 season. "Michael Carbel is a very promising young sprinter as was seen at this year's U23 World Championships," said sports director Sebastien Hinault. "We are finishing the recruitment with an additional neo-pro; we want to give these cycling hopes a chance to integrate into the professional world in the best conditions.

"The 2018 team promises a good season. The profiles of the riders complement each other and we have a lot of ambition."
