Lotto Soudal team doctor Servaas Binge believes that Stig Broeckx, who suffered a heavy crash at the 2016 Baloise Belgium Tour and spent several months in a coma, is doing well.

Broeckx, 26 years old at the time, was hit by two motorbikes during the penultimate stage of the Belgian race and suffered serious injuries to the head. The crash took place on May 28 and the rider awoke from his coma in December.

"I saw him last week at the Lotto Soudal team day, where he ate with his teammates, among other things," Binge told Belgium's Radio 1.

"They also tried on the new outfits but he skipped that part.

"When I asked him whether he is happy, he said yes. It's too early to say whether he will ever be able to return to the peloton."
