Guillaume Martin wins Giro della Toscana

Frenchman Guillaume Martin has won the second stage and the overall classification of the Giro della Toscana.

The second of two stages included a mountain top finish, which was always likely to prove a bit too much for Dimension Data's Stephen Cummings, the winner of the first stage, to keep his overall lead.

Giovanni Visconti of Bahrain-Merida tried to get away in the closing phase but was joined by several others, including Martin. The Wanty-Groupe Gobert rider went on to take the stage win, which was also enough for him to secure the overall victory.

Cummings arrived at 50 seconds, as did the other three riders that formed part of Tuesday's escape group including Vincenzo Nibali.

Martin, who had already won the Tour du Gévaudan Languedoc-Roussillon and a stage in the Tour du Limousin earlier this year, succeeds last year's Giro della Toscana winner Daniele Bennati.
