Fabio Sabatini has suffered an injury while training and will be out of racing for the rest of the season.

The rider, who was part of Quick-Step Floors' selection for the 2017 Tour de France, hit the mirror of a stationary bike, which resulted in a fracture of the metacarpal head 5 of his right hand.

"I’m sad because this is not the way I wanted to end my season and I was still motivated to help the team in the few races left this year, but I have to take things as they are," said the rider.

"On the plus side, there’s no need of surgery, which means I’ll be fully recovered by December when we will kick off our training camp."

The Italian will have to rest for four weeks before returning to training.
