Chris Froome of Team Sky thanked his teammates for their hard work during the 15th stage of the Vuelta a España.

The Briton never really had to react to any attacks by his rivals as teammates Wout Poels and Mikel Nieve kept a solid pace to keep the gaps from becoming too big.

In the end, Froome finished at 47 seconds from stage winner Miguel Angel Lopez and gained time on several GC opponents.

"It is an amazing feeling to finish off today and to still be the leader of three competitions: the Red, the White and the Green jerseys, and to have survived a stage like today's. I can't thank my teammates enough," the rider commented.

"First was the attack of (Alberto) Contador and (Miguel Angel) Lopez. When they went it was a really dangerous moment for us to try to control things. As I said, I just can't thank my teammates enough. They were absolutely incredible today."

With the rest day and Tuesday's time trial ahead, Froome believes that he is where he would have liked to be at this point in the race.

"I think so, if anyone would have said to be that this was going to be the situation before the second rest day, I would have definitely taken it. So, I'm really happy with that and I'm looking forward to the time trial."
