Trek-Segafredo's Alberto Contador is feeling the efforts of the last few days in the Vuelta a España, ahead of the two difficult stages on the weekend.

"The stage was ridden at a very high rhythm which makes you be aware the whole time and on your pedals. You had to be very well positioned at all times but the team has protected me in a very impressive way," he said.

Contador and his teammates were well prepared for the final uphil sprint, he affirmed.

"From the radio they explained how the finish was going to be and all the guys were always next to me, even Edward Theuns who is a sprinter chose to stay with me."

The Spaniard is aware of the difficulties that await him and his rivals in the next few days.

"Tomorrow we will see how we have recovered from these days full of efforts. You can feel the efforts of days like today and yesterday in the legs, so we will have to see how the body responds tomorrow.

"There is a stage that is more explosive, on the Pandera (Stage 14), and there is another one in which if you have a bad day you can lose it all because it has very long climbs. But we will go day by day to see what we can do.
