Astana will be led by Fabio Aru at the upcoming Vuelta a España. The rider will return to racing after his fifth spot at the recent Tour de France.

Aru hasn't returned to the Spanish Grand Tour after 2015, when he got the overall victory. The rider will be trying to repeat this result after a Tour de France in which he took one stage victory and finished in the fifth position of the General Classification.

The Italian champion will have the company of Colombian Miguel Angel Lopez, who is making his return to the race after a disappointing appearance in 2016. The rider showed to be in good form in the Vuelta a Burgos, where he won one stage and finished in fourth position, and completely recovered from the crash he suffered in the 2017 Tour de Suisse where he broke a thumb and needed some stitches.

The Kazakh team will be completed by Pello Bilbao, Sergei Chernetckii, Laurens De Vreese, Jesper Hansen, Alexey Lutsenko, Luis Leon Sanchez and Nikita Stalnov.
